Ingredients
Scale
1 lb Green Beans (Trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces)
10.5 oz Cream of Mushroom Soup
3/4 cup Milk
2 cups Crispy Fried Onions (Divided, for mixing in and topping)
1 tsp Soy Sauce
1/2 tsp Black Pepper (Freshly ground, for seasoning)
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder (For a hint of garlic)
Instructions
Prepare the Green Beans
- Blanch: Cook green beans in boiling water until bright green and tender-crisp, then cool under cold water.
- Drain: Ensure green beans are well-drained to avoid a watery casserole.
Mix the Casserole Base
- Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, stir together cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and 1 cup of fried onions.
- Fold in Green Beans: Gently mix in the blanched green beans until they’re evenly coated with the creamy mixture.
Bake the Casserole
- Preheat and Pour: With your oven ready at 350°F, transfer the green bean mixture into a casserole dish.
- Bake: Allow the casserole to bake uncovered, letting it bubble up and start to brown.
Add the Crispy Topping
- Top with Onions: Sprinkle the remaining fried onions over the top for that essential crispy finish.
- Final Bake: Return to the oven until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is piping hot.
