Ingredients
1 cup of Water (filtered for the best taste)
1 cup of Granulated Sugar (adjust to taste for more or less sweetness)
4 cups (12 oz) of Fresh Cranberries (organic preferred, washed and sorted)
1 Orange (zest and juice for added flavor depth)
1 tsp of Ground Cinnamon (for a hint of warm spice)
A pinch of Salt (to balance the flavors)
Instructions
Preparation
- Combine Ingredients: In the saucepan, mix together the water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add Cranberries: Stir in the cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cook: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer. You’ll hear the cranberries popping – that’s a good sign!
- Thicken: Continue to simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened to your liking (about 10-15 minutes).
- Cool and Serve: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the sauce to cool. It will thicken further as it cools.
Finishing Touches
- Once cooled, transfer your Homemade Cranberry Sauce to a serving dish. Serve it at room temperature or chilled, depending on your preference.
