Roasted asparagus spears

Oven-Roasted Asparagus with Garlic

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4

Ingredients

1 lb of Asparagus (trimmed)

2 tbsp of Olive Oil

3 cloves of Garlic (minced)

1/4 tsp of Salt

1/4 tsp of Black Pepper (freshly ground)

Optional: 1 tsp of Lemon Zest (for garnish)

Optional: 1 tbsp of Parmesan Cheese (grated, for serving)

Instructions

Preparation
  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (205°C), allowing it to warm up while you prepare the asparagus.
  2. Trim the Asparagus: Hold an asparagus spear at both ends and bend it gently until it snaps. This natural break point separates the tender tops from the tough bottoms. Repeat with the remaining spears.
  3. Toss with Flavorings: In a mixing bowl, combine the trimmed asparagus with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the spears are evenly coated.
Roasting
  1. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Lay the asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet. Ensure they’re not overcrowded to allow for even roasting.
  2. Roast to Perfection: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Roast for about 12-15 minutes, or until the asparagus is tender and lightly browned on the edges.
Finishing Touches
  1. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the roasted asparagus to a serving platter. If desired, sprinkle with lemon zest and grated Parmesan cheese for an extra burst of flavor.
